~ in the clutch ~
everyone needs a balm in their bag. want silky soft lips? always looking for obscure ways to get a superfood in to your diet? well look no further than burt’s bees rejuvinating lip balm with acai berry and you can have both! just don’t actually eat it.
get wishful thinking and invest in a last minute pair of sunnies to delay the demise of summer (in your head, at least). these topshop frames should do the trick.
a wise person once said, “brows be the making of a woman”.
her name was lora, and she works at benefit. she also didn’t use quite those words, but together we came to the conclusion that although eyeliner and mascara can do A LOT for one’s peepers, eyebrows also deserve a space in the facial hall of fame. just look what they did for audrey. have a browse (get it!?) at benefit’s brow zings and get grooming.

so here’s a tip – next time you secretly borrow a necklace off your mum/friend/cat don’t wear it with white, and then panic confess when you think the metal may have ruined your new top.
you can probably guess this is what happened to me.
do, however, accessorize. i was really trying not to stand out as an english tourist abroad (weather too hot, clothes too inconvenient to care), but i threw on this spikey wonder and i felt a little less like one. that was until we stepped in to a nearby museum and my boyfriend shouted “cap’n barbossa!” at a sculpture.

by the looks of things, colour blocking is going to be hanging around for a while longer yet, so get used to seeing your mustards paired with magenta and everything else in between. but if you don’t fancy draping your whole self in all the colours of the rainbow, pick up on the trend through your accessories.

~ glamour of the gods ~
if you’re in london with a little bit of time on your hands, head over to the national portrait gallery for their stunning exhibition ‘glamour of the gods’ before it’s too late. showcasing celebrity portraits from the 1920s to 1960s, and featuring idols such as dietrich, gable and hayworth, this isn’t one to miss.

the exhibition runs until october 23rd, and if you want to avoid the queues, you can visit during the incredibly useful late shift, as the gallery stays open until 9pm on thursdays and fridays.

if you don’t want to work rouge on your lips, but deep red takes your fancy, pop your cherry with this (quite frankly lickable) mirror from aspinal. for those who like to mix their berries, it also comes in a deep purple shade. juicy!
whip a pair of earrings like these on after work, and voila! an instant glamour upper. i spotted these vintage beauties at mango.
just before i flew to barcelona last week, sarah at origins in southampton introduced me to their GinZing eye cream for a quick pick-me-up after the flights. it’s not new to the market, but it really does what it says. if the pot is too big for you, see if you can get your hands on a small sample.
~ going green ~
jewel tones are high up on the radar this coming autumn/winter. but i am not one to wait, no no. this little topshop number screamed transitional at me, and then made me buy it in white too (more on that later). worn with a few summer staples (and creases, courtesy of my suitcase) out for drinks in barcelona, i got pretty excited about which other jewel colours will demand to enter my wardrobe in the colder months.

it is a universal truth that you can never have too many sequins. and if you’ve never gone down the heavy sparkle route before, now is the time. catch the last of the summer rays on a ridiculously reflective accessory and who knows, you could get a hand tan that takes you right through to december.
ladies, put your hot man/tesco bags to one side and start holding hands with this beauty from Zara instead.
