real venice at somerset house showcases original works by 14 renowned artists including philip-lorca diCorcia, nan goldin and hiroshi watanabe. the exhibition captures the paradox of venice as a major, historical tourist site and the damage this mass tourist exposure is doing to the city, as it already battles against geographical destruction.

real venice runs until 11 december, so there’s plenty of time to pay a visit. what’s more, all the works in the exhibition have been donated by the artists to be sold in aid of venice in peril.

now don’t get me wrong, i am fond of a wellington boot. never has stepping ankle deep into a puddle felt more satisfying than when clad in rubber. where campsites, countryside or snow scenes are the locales du joir, send them my way! but these practical toe toppers can only do so much. will they take you from the office to cocktails? doubtful. will they let you strut through the streets like you own the rain? highly unlikely.

 Bio Oil is quite simply a wonder product. It works on stretch marks and scars, but personally I use it on my face at night, and it helps clear up blemishes, smooth out rough skin and leave you moisturised until morning.

just don’t wear it at night if you have company – unless your partner has a penchant for oily fish. in which case you’re quids in!
