~ weather worthy #1 – shoes ~
there is little that brings more sartorial heartbreak than buying a new pair of shoes, then watching the heavens open and literally rain all over your parade. if your daily life involves walking outside (i don’t wish to make sweeping assumptions) this will have happened to you.

now don’t get me wrong, i am fond of a wellington boot. never has stepping ankle deep into a puddle felt more satisfying than when clad in rubber. where campsites, countryside or snow scenes are the locales du joir, send them my way! but these practical toe toppers can only do so much. will they take you from the office to cocktails? doubtful. will they let you strut through the streets like you own the rain? highly unlikely.
luckily, this season has offered up some stellar alternatives that will keep you dry and fly. below are a few of my favourites.
1. topshop patchwork patent chain platform loafers £95.00
2. carvela kurt geiger sissy boot £89.00
3. aldo roder leather and rubber boot £90.00
4. vivienne westwood for melissa studded bootie £90.00
5. river island black bow wellies £38.00
6. topshop planet flared heel platform moccasins £95.00
7. office carate chop off boot £63.00
8. marc by marc jacobs £395.00
~ i’ll stand under my own umbrella, thanks ~
this may seem like a post a little ahead of its seasonal time. it’s september, the sun still (pretty much) shines. but if you live in a country where rain is a frequent bedfellow, usually without much warning, this is for you.
for those who aren’t so unlucky, sorry about this. but really, it sucks, so feel free to read on and sympathise.
unless you are as snug as a bug in a rug watching notting hill with your warm beverage and perhaps a box of cheese straws, rain is annoying. which makes umbrellas, by default, also annoying. unless you rock the brolly-as-walking-stick-just-because-you-can look, they can be tricky to integrate into an outfit, and even trickier to manouvre into a handbang.
so, seeing as umbrellas are about to become a permanent feature of our wardrobes over the coming months, below are a few of my favourites that might just get promoted from necessity to must-have.
1. Lulu Street Scene Tiny Umbrella £28.00
2. Fulton Pink Daisy Pagoda Umbrella £35.00
3. Fulton Snakeskin Mini-Lite-2 Umbrella £14.00
4. Mango Polka Dot Umbrella £19.90
5. River Island Animal Print Umbrella £14.99
6. Marc by Marc Jabobs Panther Print Automatic Mini Umbrella £40.00
7. Lulu Guiness Birdcage Umbrella £32.00
8. Fulton Winter Floral Superslim £20.00

~ let’s get transitional ~
the month of september is synonymous with NEW. i’m not one to wish away summer, but whilst the school kids snap up their new threads because it has been ruled as thus by the powers that be (shiny shoes or detention? I’ll take three pairs!), the rest of us have to actively search for new season justification.
luckily, it’s not hard to find – there are some excellent transitional pieces out there that will take you from the last rays of summer well into autumn. and we can all tell ourselves it’s like getting two for one! hoorah! here are some of my personal favorites…
